![]() It seems I'm a little late posting this, as according to the Farmer's Almanac, "dog days of summer" refers to the stretch of hot weather in July and early August which occurs when the constellation Sirius aligns with the moon. Every day is a dog day around here. Our dear dog Bert is central in the rhythm of my daily life. When we first adopted him, I did drawings/paintings of him from every angle. These became prints and "Bert cards" for every occasion...fifteen in all! But when you walk a dog several times a day, you meet lots of dogs and lots of people who love their own particular variety. This has led to drawings, paintings, prints and cards depicting many others. Some are dogs I know, some are not, but I always enjoy trying to capture the essential characteristics of each one... a sad looking terrier or basset, an energetic corgi, schnoodle or husky, a devious pair of beagles or chihuahuas, or the devotion of a poodle, pug, Aussie, lab or German shepherd. And of course all the possible combinations in a"mutt". I start with a line drawing and then have prints and cards made from these. I can individually paint the cards or small prints to give each a flair of it's own. I am also happy to do a portrait of your favorite pooch using photos you send to give me a sense of his/her personality. Send me a note, if you think you'd like a portrait or set of cards featuring your favorite!

Along the way....When I first decided to create a website, I thought of it as a virtual catalog to "get my work out there". Then I picked up a copy of Austin Kleon's Show Your Work. He so clearly states my sense of how we are a community of creatives who benefit from sharing our process and work; I decided it makes sense to blog and share mine. Enjoy. Archives
