I have long enjoyed playing with paper... making books, doing origami, and as you may have already realized, weaving parts of my paintings. So when I started experimenting with greeting card ideas, my ideas turned away from simple images to tri-folds and 3-D pop-ups. As I mentioned in my last post, we had two new babies born in our neighborhood in April. So along with the chicken pot pies, I delivered our best wishes with this card that wraps a sweet baby in a big heart! Emboldened by my success with the baby card, I thought of a friend who has taken on some heavy-duty work to help people struggling with opioids. Her courage and tenacity inspire me. I envisioned a card that looked pretty on the outside, but speaks to her strength inside. But in my excitement, I hadn't figured out the paper engineering! Didn't really come together as I had envisioned.... Ha! Ahhh well. Onward and upward. So it was back to Bert ... a couple of new cards in time for Father's Day and summer weddings. Now it's time to pack up my sketchbooks, pens, brushes & paints and head north out of Arizona's heat. More from Minnesota in June.

Along the way....When I first decided to create a website, I thought of it as a virtual catalog to "get my work out there". Then I picked up a copy of Austin Kleon's Show Your Work. He so clearly states my sense of how we are a community of creatives who benefit from sharing our process and work; I decided it makes sense to blog and share mine. Enjoy. Archives
