As I was doing the stitching on the first (flat) version of this ball park, it occurred to me I could warp the paper's shape just as you do when sewing cloth to make it truly 3-D.

So I painted a larger version  and cut the inside and outside curves a bit different from one another.  When the two shapes are aligned and sewn tightly together, the piece literally took shape.

A little crazy. Too gimmicky perhaps, but a very fun experiment and perhaps just what someone will enjoy.  I certainly enjoyed making it.  Out of the park - out of the frame...

I was pleased to find this deep "floater frame" at pictureframes.com.  I was able to have it built (in the US!) to the exact dimensions I needed. The painting is secured to a piece of masonite which is then mounted to this special frame.

    Along the way....

When I first decided to create a website, I thought of it as a virtual catalog to "get my work out there".  Then I picked up a copy of Austin Kleon's Show Your Work. He so clearly states my sense of how we are a community of creatives who benefit from sharing our process and work; I decided it makes sense to blog and share mine. Enjoy.
